The Engimatt City & Garden Hotel is located in Zürich-Enge, roughly 13 to 15 km south of Zürich Airport (ZRH). The optimal transfer option depends on your preference for speed, budget, or comfort.

Public Transit Options

Option 1: Direct Train + Short Walk/Tram (Recommended)

• Route: Take the S2 train directly from Zürich Flughafen (Airport station under the terminal) to Zürich Enge.

• From Bahnhof Enge to Hotel:

  • Walk: A 10–12 minute walk (approx. 800m) west along Bederstrasse/Engimattstrasse.

  • Tram: Board Tram 13 (direction Albisgüetli) from Enge station for 2 stops and exit at Waffenplatzstrasse. The hotel is 150m down Engimattstrasse.

• Travel Time: ~25–30 minutes total.

• Ticket: ZVV 3-Zone ticket (Zones 110, 121, 122) costs ~CHF 7.00.

Option 2: Train via Zürich HB (Main Station)

• Route: Take any frequent S-Bahn or IR/IC train from Zürich Flughafen to Zürich HB (Main Station). From the main station forecourt (Bahnhofplatz), transfer to Tram 13 (direction Albisgüetli).

• Stop: Get off at Waffenplatzstrasse and walk 2 minutes to the hotel.

• Travel Time: ~30–35 minutes total.

• Ticket: Covered under the standard 3-Zone ticket (~CHF 7.00).

Private & Direct Transfers

Option 3: Taxi / Rideshare

• Pickup: Available directly outside the airport arrival halls.

• Travel Time: 20–30 minutes depending on city traffic.

• Cost:

  • Taxi: ~CHF 60–80.

  • Uber / Bolt: ~CHF 40–60 depending on surge pricing.

Option 4: Rental Car / Driving

• Route: Take the A1/A3 towards Zürich/Chur. Follow the signs for Chur/Luzern/Westring Zürich, exit at Brunau, and take City/Lake. Turn right onto Engimattstrasse 200m past the third traffic light.

• Travel Time: ~20 minutes.

• Note: The hotel has private garage parking available on-site for a daily fee.

Money & Payments

• Currency: Switzerland uses the Swiss Franc (CHF), not the Euro. While some tourist shops accept Euros, cash change will be given in CHF at unfavorable exchange rates.

• Card Culture: Credit/debit cards and mobile payments (Apple Pay, Google Pay) are accepted virtually everywhere, even for small purchases like a single coffee.

• Tipping: Service charges are legally included in restaurant bills. Leaving a tip is not mandatory, but rounding up the bill or leaving around 5% to 10% for good service is appreciated.

Getting Around

• Public Transit (ZVV): The tram, bus, boat, and train network is exceptionally efficient and uses an integrated fare system. You must buy and validate tickets before boarding; plainclothes inspectors conduct random checks with heavy fines for ticketless riders.

• Zürich Card: If you plan to visit museums and travel around the city frequently, get a Zürich Card (available for 24 or 72 hours). It gives you unlimited public transit (including travel to/from the airport) plus free or discounted entrance to most local museums.

• Airport Transit: Zürich Airport (ZRH) is only a 10-minute train ride from the main station (Zürich HB). Taxis from the airport are notoriously expensive (often over CHF 70), so the train is the best option.

Local Life & Etiquette

• Sundays are Quiet: Most retail shops, supermarkets, and boutiques are strictly closed on Sundays. Only shops inside major train stations (like Zürich HB) and the airport remain open.

• Free Drinking Water: Don't waste money buying bottled water. Zurich has over 1,200 public fountains spewing fresh, clean, drinkable water—just bring a reusable bottle.

• Quiet Hours: Locals value tranquility. Noise laws (Nachtruhe) strictly enforce quiet hours after 10:00 PM.

• Plugs: Switzerland uses Type J power outlets (3 round pins). While standard European 2-pin Type C plugs usually fit, standard grounded 3-pin plugs from other European countries will not work without an adapter.
